”Getting away from it all” is a catchphrase of modern society – but it’s a REAL yearning for many stressed out high flyers; and people wanting to escape the rat race and get back to what REALLY matters with their family or close friends.
Unfortunately, they often fall into one of two traps:
Is the perfect balance between both worlds for that revitalising experience REALLY possible?
Situated in the province of Mpumalanga, only two-and-a-half hours from the economic hub of the PWV, the farm nestles in a valley of breathtaking beauty 20 km from Carolina town.
The overwhelming feeling when encountering the rustic homestead, self-contained guest accommodation, trout dams, wattle plantations; the many-hued grasslands across the valley and up the mountain slopes (often covered in a multi-coloured frenzy of flowers) is one of peace, tranquillity, and admiration for the beauty of God’s creation that is so stunning th
at it actually hurts.
No sounds of traffic, pumps running (the farm gets its water from five natural fountains) or pop entertainment. Just peace and quiet with beauty and tranquillity.
The interior of The Dragonfly living unit is a pleasant surprise – all modern conveniences, but in a setting blending perfectly with the aura of the farm.
Walking on the farm and koppies boasts spectacular views; a cho
ice of picnic baskets are available to enjoy under the beautiful shady trees; trout fishing; swing-ball and board games for the young (and young at heart); a guide in guest units to fun games for the whole family; art and craft classes for the ladies and art objects and paintings for the interested buyer. A labyrinth between the blue gum trees provides a special, sacred space for meditation or prayer and is an integral part of spiritual retreats offered on the farm.
Drives can be arranged to the main lookout point (with a breathtaking panorama unfolding before your eyes) for sunset cocktails.
Four Flies Nature Farm – different things to different people – but all wonderful!
You’ll wonder how you ever coped without us...
A word of advice:
The Four Flies adventure starts when you leave the beaten track – the final stretch of road to the farm drops 150 metres in just 1.5 km. If you have a 4x4 or 4x2, use it – or be prepared to drive VERY slowly!
